Insurance wholesale broker Hull & Company Inc. has acquired Missoula, Mont.-based managing general agency Big Sky Underwriters Inc. Purchase price details were not released.

Hull, a subsidiary of Daytona Beach, Fla.-based insurance broker Brown & Brown Inc., said Big Sky Underwriters was founded in 1955 and produces just over $2.2 million in revenue annually. The MGA writes a broad range of commercial, personal and agricultural insurance business.

In addition to Missoula, the MGA has offices in Oregon and Washington and, in addition, writes business in Wyoming and Idaho.

M. Ruth Havican and Scott L. Tuxbury, the principals, will remain with the firm. Ms. Havican will remain on board for the transition, and Mr. Tuxbury will become head of office.

Tim Neff, senior vice president and head of Hull's western operations, said in a statement that Hull has established a "very strong presence" in the past few months in the Northwest, and the firm plans to grow further there.
