A California doctor recently turned himself in for filing fraudulent long-term disability claims with his insurance carrier.

According to the California Department of Insurance, Dr. Jon Fields of West Hills filed a long term disability claim with UnumProvident Corporation, for an alleged injury he suffered in 2001. The insurance company’s records showed that Dr. Fields had claimed that an injury that prevented him from working as a chiropractor from September 2001 to May 2005. An investigation by the California Department of Insurance revealed that Fields collected more than $298,000 in benefits while allegedly still treating patients.
