The National Insurance Producer Registry, a system that streamlines regulatory filing requirements for producers, announced that its address change request (ACR) service had processed more than 170,000 transactions by year-end 2007.
NIPR is affiliated with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, based in Kansas City, Mo.
Currently, 45 jurisdictions including the District of Columbia offer the ACR feature. Six states do not currently offer an address change function, according to an NIPR list of participating states. They are Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana and West Virginia. These remaining jurisdictions will be added by the end of the second quarter, NIPR said.
Various state fees may apply. NIPR lists a schedule of fees for the following states: Alabama, Alaska, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada and North Dakota.
Currently, according to the NIPR Web site, ACRs cannot be made for firms or agencies. Address change requests can only be made after such changes take effect, NIPR explains on its site.
