Mitchel Gennaoui has been appointed chief of the New YorkInsurance Department Consumer Services Bureau and assistant deputysuperintendent, it was announced yesterday.

New York State Insurance Superintendent Eric R. Dinallo said Mr.Gennaoui "has been an outstanding member of our department for manyyears. He provides strong leadership in our Consumer ServicesBureau, which has a vital role in protecting the interests of allNew York consumers."

Mr. Gennaoui as bureau chief is responsible for directing alloperations of the bureau, which receives and investigates consumercomplaints, answers consumer questions about insurance, providesdisaster assistance services, and conducts consumer education andoutreach programs.
