Fireman's Fund said a "green upgrade" for its Prestige Premier policyholders will allow them to rebuild homes damaged by California wildfires using environmental safety and efficiency standards and landscape with native vegetation.
The insurer said it is offering the innovative upgrade for affected homeowners with the Prestige Premier coverage in Southern California and next year will begin offering it in certain other states.
Fireman's Fund said a green home uses less energy, water and natural resources; creates less waste; and is healthier for occupants. In addition, the company said such homes provide reduced exposure to mold, mildew and indoor toxins.
