The Chubb Group of Insurance Companies has launched a post-catastrophe inspection service that will assist Florida homeowners' insurance customers who may be blocked from visiting their home immediately following a hurricane or other catastrophe.
Under the program, Chubb will deploy its residential appraisers to inspect the exterior of customers' homes that have suffered damaged following a hurricane. The appraisers will inform the policyholders and their agents or brokers about the condition of policyholders' homes. If the home has sustained damage, homeowners can then authorize appraisers to submit claims on their behalf and arrange for restoration specialists who can address the damage by boarding up openings, placing tarps on roofs, and extract any standing water.
“Our residential appraisers can become the eyes and ears of the policyholders who evacuated their homes and are having to live elsewhere. As a result, we will be able to help our customers prevent further damage to their property following a storm,” said Christie Alderman, assistance vice for Chubb & Son.
