Zurich Financial Services Group said it anticipates its aggregate claim losses from floods in the United Kingdom in July to exceed $260 million.
The estimate is net of reinsurance, the Switzerland-based company said. Charges for the losses will be recorded in the nine-month results of this year, the company added.
On Aug. 2, Zurich reported that the estimated losses for the extreme weather that occurred in the United Kingdom in June would not exceed $400 million before taxes. These charges were reported in the half-year results 2007.
