Tech Decisions magazine and Financial Insights, an IDC company and an independent research and consulting firm specializing in financial services, announced Insurer's Choice, a new "voice of the market" ranking for the insurance industry. This ranking will be driven by insurance companies in the United States and Canada and will rank insurance technology providers across several categories including insurance operations, developing products, and/or optimizing workflow. Insurers will be asked to name the technology firms that are the up-and-coming firms they perceive as important new-technology providers. The rankings include both the life/health insurance market as well as the property/casualty market.

Insurance carriers responding to the survey will determine the Insurer's Choice Technology 2008 rankings, which will be announced in May 2008 at the annual ACORD LOMA Insurance Systems Forum. Financial Insights is driving the survey methodology, data collection, and analysis process for the rankings.

"We are very pleased to announce our partnership with Financial Insights, which is a trusted advisory firm in the insurance industry and has significant experience in providing technology ranking reports for the financial services community," says James F. Daggett, publisher, Tech Decisions. "The 2008 Insurer's Choice survey will be driven by data provided from P&C and L&H insurance carriers in North America. The end result will be a comprehensive and valuable resource for Tech Decisions' readers."

This ranking will be delivered as a special report with a corresponding awards ceremony for the top solution providers at a special event during the ACORD LOMA Insurance Systems Forum May 14, 2008, in Las Vegas.

"This technology ranking is unique within the insurance industry as it effectively reports on the views of the carriers and showcases the best-of-breed technology providers to the insurance industry," said Barry Rabkin, senior research analyst for Financial Insights' insurance practice. "This joint effort provides a robust list of reputable, innovative, sound technology leaders for the insurance industry that insurance carriers will use as a guide for evaluating future vendor selections."
