U.S. Attorney David R. Dugas recently announced the federal jury conviction of Stephanie Jackson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana on fraud charges.

Jackson was charged with a two-count indictment that included filing a false claim with the Federal Emergency Management Agency for disaster assistance benefits stemming from Hurricane Katrina. The second count of the indictment was for the illegal conversion of government property and Jackson was found guilty on both counts.

Jackson faces a maximum penalty of up to 15 years in prison and $500,000 in fines for both counts.
