An investigation by the California Department of Insurance Fraud Division has led to the arrests of four alleged auto insurance fraud suspects.
Federico Quistian, Roberto Garcia Morales, Jorge Martinez, and Maria Lorensa Chavarria were arrested after being investigated by undercover officials for other charges. The Santa Cruz County Auto Theft Reduction & Enforcement (S.C.A.R.E.) Task Force, California Highway Patrol, California Department of Justice Bureau of Narcotics Enforcement, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, all participated in the two-year undercover operation.
According to the California Department of Insurance, the Fraud Division's investigation revealed that the suspects were allegedly involved in an auto insurance fraud scam, including filing false insurance claims with Coast National Insurance Company and Hudson Insurance Company.
