Richmond, Virginia-based excess and surplus lines insurer Max Specialty Insurance Company said it has hired Michael Miller as chief underwriting officer for the company’s new marine division.

Mr. Miller began his career at Wm H. McGee & Co. Inc. in 1973 and has since worked for several companies in marine insurance-related positions, most recently as a senior vice president and chief underwriting officer for Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company’s Specialty business unit, Max Specialty said.
