CGI Group and Sherlock Antitheft Marking have announced a partnership that will add Sherlock's vehicle identification data to CGI's AutoPlus suite of products and services.

AutoPlus contains more than 30 million policies from 70-plus companies in Canada. The database is accessed by approximately 8,000 insurance brokers and agents more than two million times per year.

Sherlock's vehicle identification process uses sandblasting and electronic engraving to mark 52 known and confidential locations on an automobile. This identification of the vehicle (cross referenced with the Vehicle Identification Number) is kept in a database that is exclusively accessed by police, public authorities, insurance companies, and going forward, the AutoPlus database.
