The Risk and Insurance Management Society Inc. is holding a workshop on how to create a model for your organization to manage enterprise risk, Sept. 20-21 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

RIMS officials said the workshop will allow risk managers to “create and bring back to your workplace a customized ERM action specific to your organization’s needs.”

Instructors/facilitators include Steven Minsky, chief executive officer of LogicManager Inc., an enterprise risk management solutions provider, and co-developer of the RIMS Risk Maturity Model for Enterprise Risk Management.

These topics will be discussed at the workshop, RIMS officials said:

o Determining the current ERM maturity level for an organization.

o Building an ERM charter to provide a stronger mandate for ERM in an organization.

o Creating an annual action plan to adopt the most important practices driving ERM program quality.

During the first day, each of the elements of the RIMS Risk Maturity Model for Enterprise Risk Management will be reviewed and real-world case studies will be used to help illustrate lessons learned for each attribute, RIMS officials said.

On day two, participants will evaluate ERM priorities for their organization, based on the “gap analysis” studied the first day, RIMS officials said.
