Risk managers on average saw a healthy bump in their compensation last year, with those at the largest organizations enjoying a particularly generous raise in salary and bonus, according to an annual survey by Logic Associates, sponsored exclusively by National Underwriter. Respondents reported a 4.8 percent raise over 2005 to an average salary of $175,598–much better than the 3.2 percent gain recorded the year before.

The average bonus in 2006 for the 1,475 risk managers queried by Logic Associates was $18,620–up 6.7 percent over the previous year. Including bonus, the average risk manager's compensation last year was up 5 percent to $194,218–beating 2005′s far more modest increase of 3.6 percent.

The "2006 Risk Management Compensation Survey" was conducted by New York-based Logic Associates Inc., the risk management field's top recruitment service, and was co-sponsored exclusively by National Underwriter. For the fifth-consecutive year, Logic's report is based on a survey of NU's risk manager subscribers.
