Integrated employment-related injury services provider Concentra now has a predictive modeling "scoring method" that aims to rapidly identify those workers' compensation cases that could potentially become high-cost claims.
According to the company, early detection and identification will make it possible for proper actions to be initiated, including the alignment of technical and clinical resources necessary to improve claim outcomes, shorter claim duration times, and lower total costs.
"It is our intention to change the construct of complex claim management by infusing predictive modeling-based data analysis into the claim process," said Derrick Amato, president of the Care Management Division, in a release. "Developing a state-of-the-art method for identifying high probability cases that have characteristics consistent with historically high-cost claims will produce significant value for the workers' compensation insurance industry."
