Insurance Fraud is an $80 billion crime annually. The coalition says it has grown more violent, invasive, and costly in recent years. This year's Holiday Scheme Team reflects that trend. It reveals the year's largest, most brazen crimes.
1Carla Patterson. The Newport News, Va. woman said she found a dead mouse in her vegetable soup at a Cracker Barrel restaurant. Customers harassed Cracker Barrel employees, and one worker lost her home when business declined. Patterson received a year in prison.
