ChristiaNet.com, a Christian web site community, recently asked its readers in a survey if they thought filing an auto insurance claim was a 'Christian' thing to do.
The question, "Should Christians file auto insurance claims?" was posed to 290 participants. The responses showed that 236 out of 290 people agreed that if Christians suffer property damage or injury, they should file an insurance claim to help cover the loss. The debate behind the survey was how the action influences the moral standard they said accompanies the faith.
Forty-five of the readers answered that they were unsure about Christians filing claims. The overall consensus was that it depends on the circumstances surrounding the accident. To those respondents, insurance is for protection from bodily harm and property damage, but shouldn't be used as a means to gain monetary value from others. The nine participants in the survey that answered "no" to the question said that they felt the Lord would supply every need.
