Six licensed chiropractors, an osteopath, a physician'sassistant, and four other clinic workers -- all employees of theAccident Help Line Medical Group (Accident Help Line) and all fromCentral Valley, California -- were arrested for insurance fraud forallegedly over-billing insurance companies and prescribingexcessive disability time off for patients covered by workers'compensation insurance totaling millions of dollars.

The arrests were the result of a three-and-a-half yearinvestigation by the California Department of Insurance's FraudDivision, and the Fresno and Kings County District Attorneys'offices, after Accident Help Line was brought to the attention ofinvestigators in late 2002, through complaints, tips, andinformation from insurance carriers.

If convicted on all felony counts of insurance fraud-relatedcharges, the suspects could receive up to eight years in stateprison and/or a fine of up to $200,000.
