The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research hasdeveloped a four-hour online course called “Insuring CommercialFlood Exposures,” which aims to meet what the company deems is agrowing need for flood insurance education by insurance industryprofessionals.

The course is approved for four hours of statecontinuing-education credits in 49 states, with approval in NorthCarolina pending.

The emphasis of the course is on commercial flood exposures withthe National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). It provides anoverview of the NFIP, building and contents eligibility, terms andtools, causes of loss, property not covered, limits anddeductibles, loss settlement and valuation, and other coveragessuch as debris removal and pollution damage. An examination isgiven at the end of the course, and the student must have a passinggrade in order to receive CE credit. The student is given threeattempts to pass the exam.
