This fraud effort went out with a bang: A "family" received the largest prison terms in the history of Pennsylvania's fraud prosecutions.

According to Attorney General Tom Corbett, the six suspects in one of the state's largest "slip and fall" rings — ages 27 to 54 — were sentenced to prison and ordered to repay the more than $84,000 they illegally accumulated through insurance claims. The longest prison term is 16 years.

The grand jury investigation known as "Operation Family Fraud" focused on the six defendants, who were living in two mobile trailer homes. The suspects referred to themselves as "The Family," and the members were either blood related or linked romantically. In 2004, all six were arrested and charged with filing more than 80 bogus insurance claims between 1999 and 2003.
