A recent study by Specialty Risk Services found that accidents and insurance claims within the restaurant industry can be as frequent as those in other fields, even manufacturing. The property-casualty TPA, which specializes in workers' compensation and general liability claims, reported that the restaurant industry is the largest employer in the United States aside from the government, employing 12.2 million people.

SRS' study concluded that restaurants can significantly drop their risk by benchmarking their claim data to identify trends and implement safety measures.
