National Association of Insurance Commissioners recently unveiled Insure U, a public education program to help consumers become insurance savvy. Aimed at helping consumers get smart about insurance as their needs change at different life stages, the program also seeks to educate them about how to avoid winding up a victim of fraud.

NAIC was troubled by recent consumer research, according to a recent release, which necessitated the need for Insure U. Among its findings were:

20 percent of young singles say they would let their auto insurance policies lapse to save money and 18 percent would decline employer health insurance to save money.
