Claims News Service, Feb. 10, 1:17 p.m. EST -- Recent and growing violence in Europe and the Middle East over Danish cartoons satirizing the prophet Muhammad should alert international companies to pay attention, said risk management consulting company Aon's Trade Credit Managing Director Bryan Squibb in a recent release.
The violence is escalating, Squibb said. Afghan troops opened fire on 2,000 protesters in Tehran, police killed a teenager in a Somalia stampede, and the Danish and Norwegian embassies were burned.
"The spread of violence emanating from the original publications in Danish press has clearly demonstrated how the 'domino' effect can impact trade relations and equity and investment decisions," Squibb said. "Multinational corporations have to create business risk scenarios."
