Claims News Service, Feb. 3, 9:38 a.m. EST — ServiceMaster, aprovider of services for residential and commercial properties thatoperates under such brand names as ServiceMaster Clean, Terminix,and TruGreen, has acquired InStar Services, a company whichspecializes in commercial disaster restoration andreconstruction.

InStar will handle projects directly or in combination withServiceMaster Clean franchisees, which specialize in disasterrestoration. Currently, InStar has 24 offices covering 28 states.ServiceMaster Clean has 1,000 facilities in the United States andCanada.

“The acquisition of InStar will complement the services ofServiceMaster Clean and changes the game in the commercial disasterresponse and restoration market,” said Jonathan Ward, chairman andCEO of ServiceMaster. “Combining the capabilities of InStar withServiceMaster Clean will create a single source solution for thedelivery of comprehensive commercial loss services on a nationalbasis, and an opportunity for our customers to significantly reducebusiness interruption.”
