The October resignation of Michael Colodny, outside general counsel for Citizens Property Insurance seemed to push the already stretched envelope of troubles at Citizens. This latest event was met with stern orders to bring order to the house of the insurer of last resort and to other state-appointed insurance bodies.

Colodny came under fire for his law firm's connection to insurers that do business with Citizens. He said his resignation after 12 years of work with Citizens was necessary to deflect the negative attention drawn to Citizens' core mission.

The dilemma centered on the fact that over many years, while Colodny received millions of dollars in legal fees to represent Citizens, his law partner, Fred Karlinsky, represented insurance companies doing business with Citizens.
