The Institute for Business & Home Safety has revised its disaster safety web site, adding new tools and making home and business property protection information easy to find. The latest changes allow efficient access to property protection tips on hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, floods, hailstorms, earthquakes, and freezing weather.
“These web-site enhancements allow us to more effectively provide information to help better protect homes and businesses from natural disasters and everyday losses,” said Harvey Ryland, IBHS president and CEO. “At the same time, we continue to upgrade and customize tools and information for our members, who, through their support of IBHS, are working to reduce property losses and preserve jobs.”
The site also has information on home maintenance projects, such as choosing impact-resistant roofing material, performing routine tasks to minimize water damage, and taking care of landscaping, such as nearby trees, to reduce the threat posed by high winds.
The Open for Businesss section streamlines the procurement of materials to help businesses develop property protection and continuity plans. The Fortified for Safer Living section includes sample residential construction measures to protect homes from hazards in specific zip codes.
IBHS also has launched a new version of its member-only web site with content for insurers and reinsurers. New features include reports on current events and related IBHS property loss reduction activities. The site will continue to offer research reports, presentations, and member bulletins.
IBHS, based in Tampa, Fla., is a nonprofit initiative of the insurance industry. More information is available at www.disastersafety.org.
