The Connecticut Senate recently passed a bill that would prohibit the use of hand-held cell phones while driving within the state.
Senator Ciotto, who sponsored the legislation, emphasized that the bill does not prohibit the use of cell phones while driving, but merely the use of hand-held mobile telephones. The use of cell phones with hands-free technology would still be permitted.
"While I acknowledge that there are a host of other, perhaps even more distracting, activities routinely taking place on Connecticut's roads and highways every single day, I feel this bill at this time is an important step toward safer conditions for all drivers, and highway safety simply must always be our first priority," Senator Ciotto said.
