Groups representing independent auto service technicians andautomobile manufacturers have formed a coalition that supportsexisting voluntary efforts, rather than federal legislation, toprovide access to technical repair data to both independent repairshops and all service providers. The Coalition for AutomotiveRepair and Fair Information Xchange (CARFIX) includes theAutomotive Service Association, the Alliance of AutomobileManufacturers, and the Association of International AutomobileManufacturers.
