Government Employees Insurance Co. was among the winners at this year's Webby Awards, created to recognize leading web sites. The award for Best Insurance web site of 2005 went to www.geico.com, produced by CDG Solutions.

The awards, which are determined by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, were presented June 6, in New York City. Comedian Rob Corrdry of The Daily Show hosted the event. Candidates included 4,300 sites from more than 40 countries.

Also being honored was former Vice President Al Gore, who received the Webby Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of the pivotal role he has played in the development of the Internet over the past three decades.
