The Reinsurance Association of America said it has formed theInstitute for Reinsurance Education to offer a core reinsurancecurriculum as well as elective courses with sessions in fourstates.

Beginning next year, the RAA will offer its training andeducational courses through the Institute for ReinsuranceEducation, or iRE. Additionally, the RAA will recognize thoseindividuals who complete the core classes and one electiveclass.

The iRE includes four core classes, Reinsurance Basics,Reinsurance Contracts, Reinsurance Claims and Reinsurance Finance.The school also offers two elective courses, dealing withcatastrophe modeling and current issues.

The Reinsurance Basics class will be offered in Chicago, whilethe other three core classes will be based in New York. Thecatastrophe modeling elective will be offered in Tampa, Fla., andthe Current Issues Forum will take place in Philadelphia.

The courses will be taught over two-to-four days, and begin withthe catastrophe modeling class from February 21 through February24. Later courses will be offered in May, July, September andOctober.
