The Captive Insurance Council of the District of Columbia Inc. (CIC-DC) said industry professionals will speak on the ins and outs and dos and don'ts of the captive marketplace at a regional education session Nov. 30 in Chicago.

CIC-DC said the session features presentations by captive insurance experts on the advantages of a captive in the current insurance market, how to form a captive, a case study of a successful captive operation, and the pros and cons of various captive insurance types including single parent-owned captives and group captives.

The meeting, the eighth of its kind, will focus on "what the cutting-edge new captive insurance law in the District of Columbia means to firms and groups in the Midwest area seeking alternative solutions to their risk exposures," said George Pantos, CIC-DC president.
