Washington_A major brokerage executive suggested to a Senatepanel today that contractors doing catastrophe cleanup work may beunable to secure coverage unless Congress passes a pending measureto limit injury lawsuits.
Paul Becker, the North American Construction Practice GroupLeader for Willis, gave his warning in testimony submitted to theSenate Subcommittee on Superfund and Waste Management.
Contractors must plunge into the work without full knowledge ofthe perils, and insurers "tend not to write policies if they arenot able to make the necessary judgments," he explained.
