Arbitration Forums, Inc., (AF) the national arbitration servicesorganization, said it has created a training and certificationprogram to improve the performance of its 6,500 affiliatedarbitrators.

Tampa, Fla.-based AF said its arbitrators are required toparticipate in the program that covers the new process forreviewing cases, making a decision and explaining thatdecision.

Geoff Engert, AF director, said that the arbitrators used by theorganization are volunteers from member insurers and self-insuredcompanies whose only certification up to now has been training bytheir own firms.
