The International Center for Captive Insurance Education announced that David Lippa is the first recipient of its Associate in Captive Insurance industry designation.

ICCIE, which offers the only comprehensive captive insurance education program available, officially opened its doors in August 2004 and has attracted about 70 students--both designation-track students and individual class attendees.

The designation program, which can be taken completely online, has attracted students from 25 states, Canada, Bermuda, Grand Cayman, the U.S. Virgin Islands and St. Kitts, according to ICCIE.

"It's an exciting landmark for ICCIE, and we're very pleased that Dave has worked so hard to reach this achievement in record time," said Mitch Cantor, ICCIE executive director.

Mr. Lippa began the ACI program with the first course ICCIE offered in September 2004 and was awarded the ACI designation in April 2005.

To obtain the ACI, students must pass ICCIE's five core courses, two electives offered through affiliated organizations, and attend three teleconferences. Most ACI candidates are expected to take between 18 months and two years to complete the designation, ICCIE said.

"Having taken approximately 80 national examinations over the last 25 years, I found the courses offered by ICCIE to be not only challenging but also rewarding," said Mr. Lippa, who is located in Laguna Niguel, California. He added that as a broker "representing clients looking at alternative risk options, these courses have had a definite impact on my ability to do a better job."

Mr. Lippa, servicing commercial accounts as a broker for 33 years, has obtained more than 15 professional financial services designations, including the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter, Certified Financial Planner, Certified Insurance Counselor, and the Associate in Risk Management designations, according to ICCIE.
