MS/B Debuts Hazard Software

NU Online News Service, Feb. 23, 2:59 p.m. EST?Marshall and Swift/Boeckh (MS/B), a provider of building cost data and estimating technology for the property insurance industry, has announced the release of Hazard Express, "an online, interactive application that integrates hazard data from various third-party sources into one location for quick, easy access."[@@]

The information is processed through the company's Express Internet platform, giving users immediate access to hazard data, said Los Angeles-based MS/B). "Users are able to more strategically underwrite business that has potential hazard risk, allowing more accurate risk selection and premium charges."

The company added that customers receive reports from batch processing. The hazard data, which MS/B supplies to match carriers' underwriting guidelines, includes: brushfire for eight Western states, including California; earthquake fault lines; distance to coast; state wind pool eligibility; Florida sinkholes; slope and elevation; premium tax; and pension funds.
