NU Online News Service, Feb. 3, 2:17 p.m. EST?A group that offers continuing education for insurance and other sectors said it will offer a session this month on "Strategies for Responding to Insurance Investigations."[@@]
The American Conference Institute said the event on Feb. 16 at the Warwick Hotel in New York is sponsored by a consulting firm, and will provide expert advice and guidance on how to avoid being the center of negative investigations.
ACI said with the current scrutiny by regulators and attorneys general, the threat of civil litigation, and government investigations, "industry professionals are arming themselves with the best strategies for responding to the Pandora's box of alleged wrongdoing."
The conference, ACI said, will provide advanced knowledge on how to handle government and internal investigations, conduct damage control and take preventative measures to avoid negative press, and how to deal with finite reinsurance and other practices currently under scrutiny.
Topics include:
? Strategies for responding to and cooperating with the government.
? International risk assessment analysis to proactively guard against being the next target.
? A 360-degree perspective on the impact of government investigations and civil litigation in the industry.
? Measures to mitigate conflicts of interest in your practices and policies.
The group said Gregory V. Serio, former New York superintendent of insurance, will speak on advancements in the insurance industry.
ACI said Navigant Consulting is the lead sponsor for this event and will be represented by managing directors from three of the company's national practices, including Financial & Insurance Services, Discovery Services, and Litigation & Investigations.
Navigant Consulting Inc. is a specialized independent consulting firm. The company said it provides litigation, financial, health care, energy and operational consulting services to government agencies, legal counsel and large companies facing the challenges of uncertainty, risk, distress and significant change.
The company focuses on industries undergoing substantial regulatory or structural change and on the issues driving these transformations. For more information, please visit www.navigantconsulting.com
