"CICA is pleased to have someone of Dennis Harwick's skill and experience," Daniel S. Labrie, CICA board chairman said. "He will execute CICA's long-term strategy, while meeting the challenges of the organization. We look forward to taking the Captive Insurance Companies Association to a whole new level of member support and advocacy under Dennis's leadership."

Mr. Harwick replaces Carl Modecki, who withdrew from the presidency because of illness, the association told National Underwriter. The organization began advertising for a full-time replacement while he still held the post. Asked about it at the time CICA said Mr. Modecki was a "contender" for the full-time job.

CICA represents hundreds of captive insurance companies, risk retention groups, and related organizations from more than 30 jurisdictions throughout the world, including a large number in Vermont, Hawaii, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, and the British Virgin Islands.

CICA was founded in 1972 by professional risk managers and operates through its Board of Directors, with the support of administration contracted from an association management company. As CICA's first full-time officer, Harwick will provide a stronger, more visible presence for the captive insurance industry, the group said.

Mr. Harwick will be formally introduced to CICA's membership at its 33^rd Annual International Conference, March 6-8, at the La Costa Resort and Spa, Carlsbad, Calif.
