AIG Hikes Quarterly Dividend 66.7 percent
NU Online News Service, Jan. 5, 11:15 a.m. EST?American International Group Inc. announced its board of directors increased the quarterly cash dividend on AIG's common stock to 12.5 cents per share from the previously declared 7.5 cents per share, representing a 66.7-percent raise over the previous dividend.[@@]
Commenting on the dividend increase, Chairman Maurice Greenberg said AIG has enjoyed significant growth in virtually all parts of its business over the years. Mr. Greenberg said in a statement: "In recognition of AIG's superior financial position and our confidence in our strategic plans for future growth, we are pleased to increase our cash dividend."
In other corporate news, AIG said its Chief Information Officer Mark Popolano will assume senior executive leadership for AIG Technologies Inc. Mr. Popolano, who has also been elected AIG senior vice president, will maintain his AIG CIO responsibilities and is succeeding Lawrence English, AIG senior vice president-administration, who is retiring.
