Insurers okay with double whammy, but Ivan looms

Hurricane Frances took its sweet time making its way across Florida on Sept. 5, drenching the state with torrential rains and incurring insured losses that are expected to approach that of its more powerful, concentrated, faster-moving cousin Charley which hit the United States just a few weeks earlier, causing the second-worst insured storm loss ever at an estimated $6.8 billion.
