AXA Shifts Jobs To India, Cuts U.K. Force
NU Online News Service, Jan. 15, 2:35 p.m. EST
Some 220 job cuts will come from AXA's call centers in northern England, as the company scales back its AXA Direct general insurance business. The company said it would also eliminate another 250 general insurance jobs and possibly look at moving up to 230 more jobs to India. AXA currently has about 10,500 employees in the U.K., of which about 4,500 work in general insurance.
"We are continually looking at ways in which to become an even stronger player in an increasingly competitive marketplace, and off-shoring some jobs to AXA Business Services in India is one of the options," AXA stated. ""The aim is to cut costs and improve competitiveness and profitability."
