Democratic Senators Say Fund Size Still A Sticking Point On Asbestos Reform

Unless significant funding is restored under an industry-backed proposal aimed at resolving the asbestos legislation impasse, it will be difficult, if not impossible, to reach an agreement, according to three top Democratic Senators.

Sens. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt.; Chris Dodd, D-Conn.; and Tom Daschle, D-S.D., said the funding-level proposed industry groups could have a detrimental impact on the solvency of an asbestos resolution trust fund.
