More P-C Agents Should Grab Life LineThe biggest surprise I had while walking through the exhibit hall at the annual meeting of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America was not that there were life and health insurers pitching products to independent property-casualty agents, but that there were so few.

Its no secret that p-c agents are generating a growing portion of their revenue from the sale of employee benefits and individual life and health policies to complement their commercial and personal lines books. Indeed, many commercial insurance agencies have seen commissions from the “life” side of the business eclipse more traditional auto and homeowners policy sales as their second-biggest revenue source.
