Renters Often Need Convincing Before Buying Homeowners Insurance

Two-thirds of the estimated 81 million people in the United States who rent their living quarters dont have a homeowners insurance policy, a recent national survey found.

That translates into a disturbing dollar amount of uninsured assets and personal liabilities, as well as a significant amount of lost commission income for insurance agents and brokers. Granted the premiums are usually small, but so are administrative costs, as the policies are standardized and, for the most part, dont require much servicing.
