Esurance, InsWeb Join Forces

July 24Esurance Inc., a direct-to-consumer personal auto insurance company, announced that it is now participating in InsWeb's online insurance marketplace as an additional provider of auto insurance coverage for InsWeb consumers.

Through San Francisco-based Esurance's insurance processes, InsWeb customers choosing Esurance have the option to purchase policies and manage their accounts online through the Esurance Web site, the company said.

An Esurance spokesperson said no up-front fees were paid by either party to the agreement, but that “were paying them on a cost-per-policy basis.” The spokesperson declined to give further details.

According to Gary Tolman, Esurance's president and chief executive officer, “Esurance satisfies the niche of Internet-savvy InsWeb customers who want to buy and manage their auto insurance online.”

Esurance said its policyholders can print their insurance cards instantly and get copies of their insurance documents anytime through their online accounts. Policyholders can also make many policy changes or report minor claims online.

According to Mark Guthrie, InsWeb's president and CEO, “This partnership enhances our offerings by allowing consumers who choose Esurance the added convenience of completing their purchase seamlessly online.”

InsWeb enables consumers to compare multiple, actionable quotes for auto, term life, health, homeowners, renters and condominium insurance offerings from many of the nation's insurers. The online insurance marketplace also provides live customer service, interactive tools and independent research. InsWeb is headquartered in Sacramento, Calif., and is accessible at www.insweb.com.

Esurance Inc., a subsidiary of the White Mountains Insurance Group, Ltd., provides personal auto insurance direct to consumers online. Through the companys Web site, www.esurance.com, customers can get instant quotes, view comparison quotes, buy an Esurance policy and print their proof of insurance cards. Reported by Ara Trembly.
