Centrino Adds Juice To Mobile PCs A newtechnology from chipmaker Intel Corporation promises to give mobilecomputer users “greater freedom to connect in new places and in newways.”

First introduced in March of this year, Intel Centrinotechnology includes a new processor that delivers higherperformance and lower power consumption, which results in longerbattery life, says Santa Clara, Calif.-based Intel. Centrino alsoprovides wireless network communications and other featuresdesigned to increase battery life and provide thinner and lighternotebook computer designs.

“Unwiring the PC will change the way people use computers,allowing them to communicate, be productive or be entertainedwherever and whenever they want,” stated Craig Barrett, Intelschief executive officer, when the technology was released. “Thisbreakthrough innovation, together with industry-wide investment andWi-Fi hotspot deployments, brings new computing and communicationscapabilities to businesses and consumers, adding value to mobilePCs.”
