Acordia Acquires Ohio Firm

NU Online News Service, Oct. 29, 10:29 a.m. EST?Insurance broker Acordia Inc. has acquired the Malenas Insurance Agency, headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Malenas has been in the business since 1980 and provides property-casualty and benefits insurance solutions to its clients. The agency will be combined with Acordia's office in Cleveland.

In a statement, Dan Goldapp, regional managing director of Acordia's Midwest Region, said that Malenas would strengthen Acordia's presence in Ohio.

Acordia, based in Chicago, is a subsidiary of San Francisco-based financial services company Wells Fargo & Company.
