ISO Buys Tech Firm Workflow Solutions Provider

NU Online News Service, May 12, 12:23 p.m.EDT?Insurance Services Office, Inc. has acquired theassets of Palm Coast Solutions, Inc., a leading provider ofautomated workflow solutions.

ISO, based in Jersey City, N.J. said the new acquisition couldhelp insurers maximize the value of commercial and personal lines'information collected in field surveys. Purchase terms were notdisclosed.

Palm Coast provides solutions and support for the real estateappraisal, mortgage and franchise-inspection industries under thename ACI. ISO will continue the ACI name.

"The acquisition provides ISO and our customers access toleading technology that makes field-data collection more efficientand the analysis and integration of data much easier," said FrankJ. Coyne, ISO chairman, president and chief executive officer.

"ACI's technology will also help position us to importfield-verified information from numerous sources and deliver itwith risk-specific underwriting, natural hazard and claimsanalytics developed by ISO professionals," Mr. Coyne added.

"When it comes to understanding information about individualrisks, our customers need decision-driven processes and moreflexible technologies. We intend to help them," Mr. Coyne said.

ACI staff will continue operating in Palm Coast, Fla., under theleadership of the company's president, Dave Roberts.

Mr. Coyne promised that "the transition to ISO will be seamlessfor ACI's existing customers. ISO is fully committed to maintainingACI's leadership position by making further investments to growACI's traditional markets."

Explaining ACI's technology edge in the property appraisal andsurvey segment, Mr. Roberts said: "ACI's digital, Internet andworkflow solutions are driven by 25 years of experience instreamlining appraisals for North America's largest financialinstitutions.

"Our application-specific tools support multi-vendor platforms,run on all Microsoft Windows operating systems and featureuser-friendly and intuitive functionality."

ACI's scalable, customized technology also uses modularcomponents to streamline workflow from underwriting to claimsprocessing. At the same time, the technology enables datawarehousing and maintenance for both internal and external dataexchange, Mr. Roberts said.

"We expect the complementary strengths of ISO's analytics andACI's technology to open new cross-industry opportunities," saidMr. Coyne, adding, "Dave Roberts and the intellectual strength ofthe ACI team are a significant strategic addition to ISO."

ISO said has been working with ACI to improve the flexibility ofthe software used by ISO's field staff for survey and gradingactivities. Through its Risk Decision Services unit, ISO maintainsa property-casualty industry field-survey service and a largedatabase of rated commercial buildings.

ISO provides information, products and services related toproperty and liability risk. ISO also supplies analytical anddecision-support products; consulting; data processing; andtechnical, statistical and actuarial services for commercial andpersonal lines of insurance.
