Agents Honored For PAC Work
NU Online News Service, April 7, 11:19 a.m. EST?Two independent agents have been honored for their fund-raising efforts on behalf of the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America's political action committee InsurPac.
Richard Dinger of Glendale, Calif., and Donald C. Evans of Ash, N.C., were honored for their work during the IIABA's 27th National Legislative Conference held last week in Washington D.C.
Mr. Evans received the Bernard J. Burns Award, given annually to the agent or broker who makes a significant impact on fund-raising efforts for InsurPac.
Mr. Evans is vice president of Coastal Insurance & Realty Inc. in Shallotte, N.C., and president-elect of the Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina.
As North Carolina InsurPac chairman, Mr. Evans guided his state to all-time fund-raising records with 307 donors contributing $34,145, eclipsing last year's total by nearly $12,000, IIABA said.
The award is named for Bernard J. Burns, the founding father of InsurPac and a past president of IIABA.
Mr. Dinger was honored with the InsurPac Young Agent Recognition Award for his significant fund-raising efforts for InsurPac.
Mr. Dinger, president of Crescenta Valley Insurance in Glendale and InsurPac's state chairman in California, raised $17,325 for InsurPac in 2002, including $3,775 from young agents.
IIABA said that InsurPac, established in 1975, reached record fund-raising levels for a single year in 2002. Independent agents and brokers contributed a record total of $453,996.78 to InsurPac, eclipsing 2001 contributions by $27,000.
For 2001 to 2002, InsurPac raised $882,210.67, an increase of more than $200,000 over the previous election cycle of 2000 to 2001.
