Snowstorm Pummels Midwestern And Eastern States

NU Online News Service, Feb. 17, 7:55 p.m. EST-- A snowstorm swept through the Midwest over the weekendand dumped more than 18 inches of snow on many Northeasterncommunities today.

The effects of the storm may have been reduced by the fact thatgovernment offices and businesses were closed for President's Day,but the storm shut down airports, stopped sporting events andjolted businesses that had intended to open today.
