New Program Created For EB Professionals

NU Online News Service, Jan. 31, 11:00 a.m.EST?An organization that provides specialized training formembers of the employee benefits industry said it has createdanother study program for a new professional designation.

The new home-study offering from the Certified Employee BenefitSpecialist Program in Brookfield, Wis., gives graduates adesignation as CMS, or Compensation Management Specialist.

Besides the new CMS program, CEBS said it also provides trainingas a Group Benefits Associate and a Retirement Plans Associate.

|

CEBS is sponsored by the nonprofit International Foundation andits courses have been developed by the Wharton School of theUniversity of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

Courses offered by CEBS cost between $200 and $250 and the examfee is $250.

|

CEBS said in addition to offering the new designation it has anew curriculum model with a "core plus electives" approach.Candidates earn the CEBS designation by completing eightcourses?six required and two electives.

|

Required courses include two from each core area?group,retirement and compensation.
